When Vision Becomes Reality
As we reflect on Mother’s Day, we are reminded of the strength, courage, and love that define motherhood, especially in the lives of the young mothers who come through House of Life in El Salvador.
Many of these young women arrive carrying stories shaped by hardship, uncertainty, and deep vulnerability. But in a safe and consistent environment, something begins to change. With time, care, and the support of a community that walks alongside them, they begin to rediscover hope, not only for themselves, but for the children they now hold in their arms.
It is in this spirit that we find ourselves in a very special season at Mi Casa.
What once felt like a distant vision is now becoming reality.
The Expansion of House of Life Begins
After months of preparation, working through permits, coordinating construction, and securing the right materials, we have officially begun the expansion of House of Life.
This moment marks the beginning of something we have been praying and working toward for a long time.
With this expansion, we will be able to welcome eight more teenage mothers and their babies into a safe, stable, and supportive home. Sixteen lives that may have faced a very different future are now just steps away from entering a place of healing, restoration, and care.
This step forward has only been possible because of the people who have come alongside this mission, those who believe in creating spaces where life can be protected and restored.
A Vision Growing Beyond Today
As we watched this expansion become a reality, we also began to look further ahead.
Over time, a deeper vision has started to take shape, one that seeks to care for life not only in its most vulnerable beginnings, but across generations.
We are beginning to develop a purpose-driven, intergenerational living model in El Salvador, where young mothers, children, and elderly individuals live within a shared community of dignity, care, and belonging.
This vision includes:
Continued growth of House of Life for teenage mothers and their babies
A Montessori-style learning environment for children
A dignified assisted living community for the elderly
Job opportunities for the local community
The goal is to create a self-sustaining ecosystem, where assisted living provides both financial sustainability and meaningful purpose, while also supporting vulnerable mothers, children, and local elders.
As we began sharing this vision, we witnessed something incredible: a commitment to donate 12 acres of land to help bring this dream to life.
We receive this with humility and gratitude, and as a clear sign to continue moving forward in faith.
A Weekend of Community and Support
This season has also been marked by moments of connection and encouragement.
This past weekend, we were honored to be part of the Teather Invitational Golf Tournament at El Encanto, where Mi Casa was selected as the beneficiary of the event.
It was a meaningful opportunity for many to learn more about the work happening at House of Life and the vision ahead. Our girls were present, sharing moments of joy and connection that reminded us how powerful it is when others step in to walk alongside this mission.
A Shared Journey
As we look at everything unfolding, from the expansion of House of Life, to the vision for the future, to the community that continues to gather around this work, we are reminded that none of this happens alone.
This is a shared journey.
And in this month, as we honor mothers, we are especially grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside those who are just beginning that role, helping them step into it with strength, dignity, and hope.
Join us as we continue growing and creating lasting impact for the future.
