The Fruit from Steady Nurturing
What happens when nurturing and guidance are not just given for a moment, but sustained over years?
Juan Carlos came to Mi Casa when he was just 10 years old. Like many of the young troubled boys who arrive at our doors, his story began with violence, neglect and abandonment. His life was headed in a downward spiral, but the care he received at Mi Casa began to turn that trajectory around. He felt safe and loved. He finally found a family that truly cared.
With a safe and secure home, healing began to happen.
Transformation did not happen all at once. It came through years of counseling, prayer, guidance, shared routines and the steady presence of people who chose to walk alongside him. Over time, his character began to take shape. Responsibilities grew. Confidence followed. The qualities that were always within him began to surface and blossom.
He didn’t just grow up physically here at Mi Casa, he grew into himself.
Today, at 30 years old, Juan Carlos is an essential part of the Boys’ House. What was once given to him, he now gives back to others. He helps drive the younger boys to school or activities, supports the needs of the home, and has become someone the boys naturally look up to and trust.
Alongside this, he is close to finishing his degree in Systems Engineering, a milestone that reflects years of perseverance, commitment and dedication. He also plays a key role in supporting the technological needs across our homes and offices, quietly serving wherever he is needed.
His presence as their older brother and leader carries something deeper than responsibility. He is a role model for the younger boys. He represents what is possible when someone is lovingly nurtured, cared for, and given the opportunities to build a bright future.
Stories like his remind us that transformation is not immediate, but it is real. And when it takes root, it bares fruit and gets paid forward.
The Boy’s Kitchen before the renovation.
This month also marked an important milestone for the Boys’ House. After much work and preparation, our kitchen is fully remodeled and equipped. With new cabinets in place and industrial appliances now fully operational, our staff is better equipped to serve the boys in a way that reflects the dignity and care we strive to provide every day.
We are deeply grateful to the individuals who made this renovation possible. Their generosity has created a lasting impact on the daily life of our home, improving the environment where our boys grow, learn, and are cared for.
As we look ahead, we are preparing for another new step. The space that once held our offices will soon be transformed into a welcoming room for four new babies. The months ahead will be filled with preparation, anticipation, and excitement as we make room for new lives to join the Mi Casa family.
Each step forward, whether in a life like Juan Carlos’, a renewed space, or a new beginning, reminds us of what can be built over time through faithfulness.
Thank you for continuing to walk with us in this journey.
