Making Room for New Life

February has been a month marked by love lived out in quiet, faithful ways, and recently, that love made room for something new.

Just a week ago, Mi Casa welcomed five new children into our family: one boy and four girls who came to us after the orphanage Casita de Paz in Usulután closed its operations. Transitions like these are never simple, especially for children, but we are grateful that they will continue to be surrounded by safety, care, and a community ready to walk with them as they begin a new chapter of their lives.

In what can only be described as God’s gentle provision, the orphanage also donated everything they had for us to use, from toys and beds to TVs, ovens, computers, furniture, windows, and even the kitchen sink and cupboards. What could have felt like an ending became a blessing that continues forward. These items are already helping make our spaces more welcoming, practical, and warm for the children now in our care. In addition, the brothers and sisters from Iglesia Príncipe de Paz in Elgin, Illinois, who previously operated the orphanage, are now continuing to support and care for the five children who once lived there. They are also planning to send a team of volunteers down in the future. We see God’s hand clearly in this, providing not only for the children who arrived but also for what lies ahead.

This unexpected gift also places us further along as we prepare for the expansion of House of Life. Many of these donated items will be used to equip future rooms, helping them feel less like new spaces and more like home from the very beginning. It’s a reminder that God often prepares the way ahead of us, meeting needs before we even realize they exist.

Inside our homes, everyday life continues to unfold with joy and hope. Our children have been especially excited about school, learning new things, building confidence, and settling into routines that offer structure and encouragement. These moments may seem ordinary, but they are where healing and transformation quietly take root.

We are deeply thankful for the children entrusted to us, for the provision that arrived at just the right time, and for the community that walks alongside Mi Casa through prayer, generosity, and faithfulness. Each step forward is shared, and every story unfolding here is made possible because we do not walk alone.
