Building Room for Miracles

At Mi Casa, every wall we build and every room we restore becomes more than just brick and paint; it becomes a vessel of hope. Today, I want to share two important projects that are paving the way for more children and teen mothers to find healing in our homes.

At House of Life, we’ve seen God do extraordinary things. The young mothers here are not only raising their babies, but also rediscovering their own worth, dignity, and purpose. They are thriving, learning new skills, and daring to dream again. To watch a pregnant, abandoned girl as young as 11—once on the verge of giving up—arrive broken and then, in just a few short months, completely turn her life and her baby’s life around, is astonishing. What happens here is nothing short of a miracle from God.

Most of our girls at House of Life, filled with love, hope and experiencing a new beginning.

Right now, all of our girls will be staying with us for a while. This is their season to truly grow. But it also means we need more space to welcome others who are waiting for the same opportunity. That’s why we are expanding. By building two more bedrooms and two more bathrooms, we will create room for 8 more girls and their babies—16 more lives set on a new course, breaking cycles of abandonment and writing new stories of restoration.

We are deeply grateful to our dear friends Greg and Beba, and their church community at Kingsland Baptist, who gave the very first gift of $5,000 toward this expansion. Their generosity has set the foundation. Now, we have $55,000 left to raise to make this dream a reality.

Special appreciation to Patricia Parras, Avance Ingenieros, and Daniella Rochi for designing the expansion.

Donate House of Life Expansion

Meanwhile, at the Boys’ House, thanks to Mike, Kelly, Rob, Dana and others who pitched in, we are nearing completion of our kitchen renovation. Soon, this transformation will give our children a safe and functional space to cook and share meals. Each meal shared around that table has been an essential element in the children’s healing process.

Over the years, we’ve seen our boys grow from little ones learning to trust again into young men who dream about their future with confidence and hope. This renovation will also free up an entire room so we can welcome more children into the family and share many more precious moments.

This is what the kitchen looked like when renovations started.

Our kitchen now has new floors, counters, ceiling, a floor drain and more space. We are almost ready to create more moments of joy as a family.

These projects are about far more than just buildings. They are about the miraculous transformation of children who once were abused, neglected, or abandoned. Every brick laid, every wall painted, every room furnished is another life touched by God’s love.

We cannot do this without you. Your generosity today will make space for children and mothers who desperately need a safe place to call home. With your help, we can finish the kitchen, expand the House of Life, and open the doors to many more stories of transformation.

Together, we are not just building houses—we are building futures.
