Room for Two More

Room for Two More: An Honest Update from House of Life

Something wonderful is happening this September: two young mothers and their babies are joining the House of Life family. It's the first real step toward a goal we've been building toward all year: welcoming up to eight mothers and their babies into a home ready for them. The timeline looks a little different than we first pictured, but we couldn't be more excited to share this next step with you.

The Rooms Aren't Quite Ready — So We Found Another Way

Construction on the two new rooms is close, but the beds, closets, and furniture for those specific spaces are still being finalized. Rather than wait for every piece to be in place, we made a decision: two beds were already ready in our main house. This month, two new moms and their babies are joining the House of Life family through those beds instead of waiting on the new rooms to finish.

Two Is the Beginning, Not the Whole Goal

Our vision has always been to welcome up to eight young mothers and their babies once everything is ready. These first two arrivals are the start of that fuller picture, not the finish line. We don't know exactly how many more mothers will arrive in the months ahead, or exactly when. Some months may bring a new arrival. Others may not. That unpredictability is simply the nature of this work, a young mother in crisis doesn't wait for a construction schedule, and neither do we.

What This Place Actually Does

If you've followed House of Life for a while, you already know what we mean when we say this place changes things. We've watched young mothers arrive scared and unsure, and slowly become women who trust again, who bond with their babies without fear, who rebuild a sense of who they are outside of everything that brought them here. Our teen mamas' small business exists because a group of young women who once needed care decided they were ready to build something of their own. That's what healing looks like when it's given enough time and enough love to take root.

We don't know the full stories of these two new arrivals yet. But we know what this house has done for the ones who came before them, and we believe it will do the same for them, one ordinary day at a time.

We'll share updates as the new rooms near completion, and as more mothers and babies join us in the coming months.

"God sets the lonely in families." (Psalm 68:6) That's the work happening at House of Life this month, in both the big moments and the small ones.
