Volunteers/Visitors

We welcome those who want to volunteer and help with the children. We do have a stringent application process just as you would with anyone having access to your own children. We are also limited to the times of the year in which we can have volunteers who want to help with the children. The children are all in school from Jan 15 to November 1st full time. They leave at 6:30 AM and get back at 3:30 PM each day. They get a short break at 3:30, a little exercise, a snack and then they are busy doing homework and their English Class until their bed time at 8:00 PM. Because of this we have limited volunteer visits to November and December when the kids are out of school and you will have some time to interact with them and enrich their lives. We also have available the week of Easter and the first week of August when the Children are out for holidays.

Of Course if you come to paint the houses or build a Swing Set/ Play Center (we really need one at the girls house) it is not necessary to come in November or December as you will be here working while the children are in school.

Visits

Of course you may come anytime of the year to visit us, check us out and see and experience the joy, love and spirit of God that exists here at Mi Casa.  We try to have a guest speaker come each month on a Friday or Saturday to have diner with us and talk to the children about what it takes to succeed in life and the secrets to true happiness. We have had everyone from the US Ambassador to Coffee Roasters to  a Race Car driver. Its a great way to come down to El Salvador for a few days, enjoy the sun and warmth here when its cold up in the states and have a chance to meet and make an impact on the Children's lives.

Contact me at bob@micasakids.org  or call me direct at 503-437-0606 if interested.

Former US Ambassador to El Salvador,  Mari Carmen Aponte has visited us several times. The Ambassador has also spoken to the children on how to succeed in life.
