Robert McDonell - President/Founder
I founded Mi Casa in 1989. Before that, in 1978 I was Executive Vice President of a Nationwide Service Company in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1979 I started The Fast Break in Portland, Oregon and ran and operated it until it's sale in 2003. In 1992 I started Cans For Kids in order to employ more handicapped and disabled adults at The Fast Break. (My other passion: Helping the Handicapped). The Fast Break won numerous awards over the years for our employment of the Mentally Challenged. Cans for Kids is now a part of Mi Casa International and is still providing employment to the handicapped in the Portland Metropolitan area. The experience I gained running a small business for 25 years has been invaluable in running Mi Casa in the most efficient way possible. My wife and I grew up in the Catholic Church and now attend the Union Church, an English Speaking Church in El Salvador. Union Church is a mix of many different denominations. Maricela and I consider ourselves Disciples of Jesus Christ and try to follow the example of the selfless life He lived and gave for us all. I am also the Missions Director at Union Church and have served on the Church Board.
Susan Parsons - Treasurer
Susan has been involved in missions and serving the disadvantaged since she was a freshman in High School. Serving in places ranging from the Cabrini-Green projects in Chicago to Jamaica, and of course El Salvador. Susan earned her Bio-Chemistry degree from the University of Michigan in 1990 and worked as a chemist until her first son was born in 1993. Since that time she has become the mother of six more. The total includes two biological, 3 Hispanic children the Parsons adopted when their mother died of cancer, and legal guardian to two black children who where left homeless. She is presently continuing her life’s of work seeking to be the hands and feet of Jesus while living in Charlotte, North Carolina. Susan and her amazing husband Rick are regular donors and advisors. They are a blessing from God to the children at Mi Casa.
Mike Day - Secretary
Mike Day and his wife Joy have been friends of ours and supporters of Mi Casa for over 20 years. Mike's company Day CPM (check them out) has managed construction projects in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Mike is the most talented planner I have ever met. What is most impressive about Mike is his commitment to the Lord, his wife of 30 years, Joy and their children. They have two beautiful children and a daughter-in-law. Mike is about Integrity, Transparency and Accountability. Mike, Joy and his Business Partner Joshua support Mi Casa in every way possible including financially.
Jose is Salvadorian and that helps us out in a huge way. Our cultures are so different and Jose can explain to all of us what is going on from a "Salvadorian" point of view. Jose regularly visits us at Mi Casa and is all about putting God first and giving all you have in order to become all that God has planned for your life. He is a major motivating force to all of our children and an invaluable advisor. He is the father of two amazing children and runs a restaurant called Pollo Royal in Charlotte. They have four locations and have the best fried chicken. Jose is also a real estate developer. Jose's impact on Mi casa has been amazing. We are a better more efficient non-profit thanks to Jose.
